San Diego’s housing market is settling into its typical late-summer slowdown, with inventory, new listings and pending sales trending lower.
Mortgage rates continue to be a major factor, with the average 30-year rate climbing to around 6.87% at the start of September. Inflation, oil prices and economic uncertainty have kept rates elevated, putting additional pressure on affordability.
What does this mean for you? Buyers may have more opportunities to negotiate on price, credits and terms, while Sellers need to be more thoughtful about pricing, presentation and marketing from day one. The homes that are positioned correctly can still sell; the strategy just matters more in today’s market.

Live Nation converting San Diego’s historic Wonder Bread Building into Music Venue
Live Nation has plans to transform San Diego’s historic Wonder Bread Building into a new live music venue. Pending City approvals, the venue is expected to open in fall 2028, bringing new life to the iconic building and another major concert destination to San Diego. Read more here.
